Burkina Faso/Zero Impunity: The authorities take action against AZIMO and SOCOGIB

The Burkinabe authorities have issued a strong statement: illegal practices and misconduct in the real estate sector will not go unpunished. Two companies, AZIMO and SOCOGIB, are at the center of a scandal involving the unlawful sale of hundreds of plots, resulting in the misappropriation of billions of CFA francs at the expense of the state and its citizens.

These embezzled funds, some of which reportedly fuelled criminal networks, pose a direct threat to the nation’s stability. The involvement of former political figures in facilitating these violations highlights the urgent need for decisive and exemplary action.

Judicial proceedings have been initiated to hold those responsible, as well as their accomplices, accountable in court. This effort forms part of a broader strategy to combat corruption and the misuse of public funds.

The government is also calling on Burkinabe citizens to play an active role in fostering transparency by reporting any cases of fraud or abuse.

Through this collective effort, Burkina Faso aims to deliver a clear message: the era of impunity is over, and all criminal acts, regardless of scale, will be prosecuted in strict adherence to the law.
