Burkina Faso: Colonel Moussa Diallo promoted to the rank of Brigadier General by President Ibrahim Traoré

In a formal ceremony held this Friday morning, Burkina Faso’s President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, oversaw the promotion of Colonel Moussa Diallo to the rank of Brigade General.

President Traoré personally affixed the insignia and presented the beret signifying Diallo’s new status, underscoring the critical role this advancement plays in the ongoing transformation of the nation’s military.

“Brigade General Moussa Diallo, I officially bestow upon you the insignia of your rank,” the president stated, emphasizing the significance of this appointment for reinforcing the national armed forces.

Deeply moved, General Diallo expressed heartfelt gratitude for the trust placed in him. ”

It is with great honour and profound humility that I accept these insignia,” he said, reaffirming his dedication to safeguarding Burkina Faso’s security and stability.

This promotion comes at a time when the country faces significant security challenges.

As the new Chief of Defense Staff, General Diallo is tasked with leading efforts to enhance the military’s response to evolving threats and to strengthen national defense capabilities.

The event also reflects the government’s broader commitment to bolstering military leadership and ensuring an effective chain of command, which is seen as pivotal in restoring peace and asserting national sovereignty.

General Diallo’s promotion symbolizes a renewed focus on uniting and empowering the armed forces to address the pressing challenges confronting the nation.
