Burkina Faso: The Burkinabe government committed to promoting tourism and the hotel industry

On Monday, January 13, 2025, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo hosted the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Organizations of Burkina Faso (FOPAHT-B) in Ouagadougou. Led by its president, Mamoudou Pierre Célestin Zoungrana, the meeting signaled a shared commitment to revitalizing the nation’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

The FOPAHT-B delegation began by congratulating the Prime Minister on his recent appointment and outlined key priorities for the industry’s development.

Among the main requests was the establishment of a permanent headquarters for the federation, deemed essential for better structuring its activities and enhancing its role in promoting the sector.

Another critical issue raised was the promotion of local service providers, particularly in the catering sector linked to mining activities.

The federation advocated for prioritizing Burkinabe businesses, a move that could bolster the national economy and strengthen the capabilities and competitiveness of local stakeholders.

Prime Minister Ouédraogo acknowledged the vital role tourism and hospitality play in the country’s economic and cultural growth.

He commended the FOPAHT-B’s dedication and assured them of the government’s support in advancing their efforts to transform the sector into a strategic driver of development.

This meeting underscores the government’s commitment to placing tourism at the forefront of Burkina Faso’s economic recovery.

By leveraging local resources and empowering domestic actors, the nation aims to enhance its appeal and unlock the vast potential of its hospitality and tourism industries.
