La Liga: Barcelona stun Atletico with late drama to claim top Spot in La Liga

In a stunning late turnaround, Barcelona snatched a dramatic 4-2 victory over Atletico Madrid, propelling them to the top of La Liga. Trailing 2-0 with just 20 minutes left, Barca staged a remarkable comeback, scoring four goals, including two in stoppage time, to stun the hosts at the Metropolitano.

Atletico seemed poised to rebound from their Champions League exit after Julian Alvarez tapped in Giuliano Simeone’s cross just before halftime.

Alexander Sorloth doubled their lead in the 70th minute, finishing a precise pass from Conor Gallagher.

However, Barcelona roared back, with Robert Lewandowski firing home in the 72nd minute before Ferran Torres headed in Raphinha’s cross to level the score.

Sorloth missed a golden chance to restore Atletico’s lead, firing wide in a one-on-one, and Barcelona capitalized. Lamine Yamal’s deflected strike in the 92nd minute put the visitors ahead, and Torres sealed the win with a composed finish moment later.

The victory lifts Barcelona level with Real Madrid on 60 points, but with a crucial game in hand. Atletico, meanwhile, remain third, four points adrift of the leaders.

The result not only reignites Barca’s title hopes but also delivers a crushing blow to Atletico’s ambitions in a thrilling night of La Liga action.
