Mali: AES Unified Force gains momentum, a new strategic victory in the Ménaka region

The Malian and Nigerien armies have successfully carried out a joint operation 35 km south of Indelimane, neutralizing a logistics base used by terrorist armed groups. This decisive action confirms the growing effectiveness of the Unified Force of the Confederation of Sahel States (FU-AES), the military arm of integration between Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.

Supported by advanced technological assets—drones, satellites, and coordinated intelligence—the operation reflects enhanced synergy between the general staffs of the member countries, reinforcing the shared vision of united action against terrorist groups as championed by the Heads of State of the AES. According to the General Staff of the Malian Armed Forces, “an improved understanding of the environment and the enemy” enabled the precise targeting of threats in the tri-border area.

The AES Unified Force is thus establishing itself as a credible and determined military actor in the face of terrorist groups. It represents a sovereign, coordinated, and offensive response, driven by the collective political will of the member states to regain full control over their territories.

This is also an occasion to commend the professionalism of the defense and security forces as well as the cooperation of local populations—essential partners in this fight. The AES Unified Force intends to maintain this momentum until the terrorist threat is fully eradicated.
