Burkina Faso’s Council of ministers addresses Key National priorities

Ouagadougou, June 4, 2025 . The government of Burkina Faso held its weekly Council of Ministers meeting today, chaired by President Ibrahim Traoré, to address pressing challenges in security, economic development, and governance. The session resulted in several strategic decisions aimed at advancing national recovery efforts.

Agricultural modernization
The Council approved reforms to strengthen the National Land Development and Rural Equipment Corporation (SONATER), focusing on maintaining irrigated farmlands critical for food sovereignty.

These measures aim to safeguard agricultural investments and boost productivity in the agro-pastoral sector.

Economic revitalization
Significant investments were authorized, including the National Lottery’s (LONAB) participation in state-owned enterprises like FASO-PHARMA, TEXFORCES-BF, and the Agricultural Bank of Faso.

Totalling over six billion CFA francs, these investments support industrialization, economic recovery, and local resource development.

Diplomatic and legal advancements
To enhance international ties, the government established an honorary consulate in Sopot, Poland, and appointed a consul to engage the diaspora.

Additionally, new decrees were adopted on managing seized assets and granting Burkinabe citizenship to ten individuals, reflecting commitments to economic justice and social integration.

Progress report
Oral updates highlighted significant achievements, including an 80% implementation rate of the Stabilization and Development Action Plan.

The government also reported progress in humanitarian, health, education, and diplomatic sectors, demonstrating its responsiveness to current challenges while preparing for future opportunities in a rapidly evolving regional and global context.

This session underscores the  proactive approach of Burkina Faso to national development under President Traoré’s leadership.
