Mali: General Assimi GOÏTA listens to the Malian Diaspora

During the International Forum of the Malian Diaspora, the President of the Transition, His Excellency Army General Assimi GOÏTA, granted an audience on Friday, July 18, 2025, to a delegation of Malians living abroad, led by Mr. Habib SYLLA, President of the High Council of Malians Abroad. The meeting took place in the presence of Mr. Mossa Ag ATTAHER, Minister for Malians Abroad and African Integration.

This direct exchange with the Head of State reflects the importance the Transitional authorities place on the Malian diaspora, which is seen as a strategic pillar in the country’s rebuilding process. By hosting the forum under his high patronage, General Assimi GOÏTA reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties between the State and its citizens abroad.

The Malian diaspora plays a key role in the national economy, particularly through remittances, investments, and cultural influence. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by Malians abroad and to outline practical ways to enhance their involvement in national development projects.

In return, the representatives of the Malian diaspora praised President GOÏTA’s efforts toward the country’s stabilization and sovereignty. They also reaffirmed their unwavering attachment to their homeland and expressed their willingness to contribute more actively to building a strong, united, and respected Mali.
