DRC: Launch of the e-Diplôme platform, a digital solution to combat fake diplomas and modernize the education sector

To address the proliferation of fake diplomas and accelerate the modernization of its educational administration, the Democratic Republic of Congo has launched “ e-Diplôme ”, an innovative digital platform based on blockchain technology. The announcement was made following the Council of Ministers meeting held on Friday, July 18, 2025, in Kinshasa.

This new system marks a major milestone in the digitalization of public services and is part of a broader strategy for digital sovereignty. It aims to secure the issuance, archiving, and verification of state-issued diplomas across the country. Thanks to blockchain technology, each diploma is now registered in a tamper-proof manner, allowing instant online authentication via the portal www.schoolap.cd.

The platform is designed for a wide range of users: graduates, universities, employers, government institutions, and diplomatic missions. It offers fast, secure, and permanent access to academic records, eliminating the reliance on paper documents, which are often susceptible to forgery or deterioration. This initiative tackles a major challenge in Congolese education: restoring confidence in the value of national diplomas. By fighting against document fraud and bureaucratic delays, e-Diplôme aims to enhance the credibility of the education system and improve graduates’ access to employment.

Moreover, the government views this innovation as a strategic tool to position the DRC as a pioneer of digital governance in Central Africa. The system is also designed to promote transparency in educational processes, streamline inter-institutional exchanges, and reduce certification-related processing times.

With e-Diplôme, the DRC is taking a decisive step toward modernizing its education sector and integrating technology into good governance practices. It sends a strong message about the country’s commitment to its youth and to the broader digital transformation of the nation.
