Burkina Faso: FDS and VDP, unwavering determination to defend every inch of territory

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Burkina Faso, the people of Sindou gave a triumphant welcome to the combat forces returning from an operation in the Ouéléni area. This powerful moment was more than a simple gesture of gratitude—it was a demonstration of popular support for the men and women who risk their lives every day to safeguard the integrity of the nation’s territory.

For several days, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), supported by the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), have been conducting a sustained offensive in this rural commune of Léraba Province, located in the far southwest of Burkina Faso. This operation is part of a broader strategy to reclaim and secure the territory in the face of the terrorist threat.

This fight is unlike any other—it is an existential struggle, one that determines not only the safety of the Burkinabe people but also the survival of the state and its values. Each military advance marks a step toward the complete liberation of the territory; each village regained breathes new hope into the population; each return from a mission is a collective victory.

The determination of the FDS and VDP is unwavering. Trained, guided, and driven by the clear objective of freeing Burkina Faso from the terrorist scourge, these patriotic forces now stand as the ultimate bulwark against national collapse. Their commitment goes far beyond duty—it reflects a deep awareness of the stakes and a profound love for their country.

Against the enemy, they move forward with courage, discipline, and faith in victory. Against doubt, they stand firm in their mission. Against fear, they offer their presence. And against forgetfulness, they remind, through their actions, that Burkina Faso will not fall.

The war on terrorism is a trial—but it also reveals the nation’s most precious resource: its sons and daughters, standing tall, united, and determined to defend, to their last breath, the honor and sovereignty of their homeland.
