Burkina Faso: Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the army acquires state-of-the-art military equipment from China

Under the strategic vision and determination of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso, Burkina Faso continues to strengthen its military capabilities to defend its territory and ensure the safety of its people. The latest step in this build-up is marked by the arrival of modern military equipment from the People’s Republic of China.

Among these acquisitions are VN22B armored vehicles, PLL-05 mortar-howitzers, and SR5 multiple rocket launcher systems. Manufactured by the Chinese defense giant Norinco, these assets are known for their effectiveness, durability, and adaptability to various terrains, whether in urban combat or open-field operations.

The VN22Bs, with their advanced armor and high mobility, ensure the safe transport of troops in high-risk areas. The PLL-05 mortar-howitzers, capable of both direct and indirect fire, deliver flexible and rapid firepower, while the SR5 rocket launchers provide massive and precise support during offensives, effectively neutralizing enemy positions.

This acquisition goes beyond a simple material upgrade: it reflects a clear political will to break away from outdated armament practices and dependency. It also aligns with a broader African trend, as more nations turn to the Chinese defense industry, known for its competitive prices, reliable equipment, and fast delivery times.
