AES: Recapturing territory, defense and security forces maintain pressure
As part of the ongoing reconquest of national territories within the AES, defense and security forces continue to strengthen their capabilities, particularly in Burkina Faso and Niger. These operations reflect the determination and growing effectiveness of their armed forces.
In the Banwa region, Burkina Faso’s armed forces launched a bold offensive under the command of Captain Watao. The 7th Rapid Intervention Group dismantled three terrorist camps previously considered inaccessible, neutralizing 12 fighters and seizing over 25 weapons along with a large stock of ammunition. The mission, carried out without air support in order to preserve the element of surprise, reinforced control of the area and restricted enemy movements.
In Niger’s Dosso region, Operation Damisa neutralized several threats and intercepted supplies intended for armed groups in the Gaya and Dogondouchi areas.
Near Gaya, in Tanda, a tactical ambush targeted supply couriers traveling by motorcycle, exposing two groups of armed bandits. The intervention led to the seizure of several items of equipment. On August 11, another operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals along with their cargo. The consolidated outcome reports one terrorist neutralized, three motorcycles, a phone, and 26 jerrycans of fuel confiscated.
These coordinated actions illustrate the steadfast commitment of defense and security forces in securing territories and combating armed groups. Their professionalism, vigilance, and determination deserve the recognition of the entire nation. United within the AES, Burkina Faso and Niger continue to move toward restoring sovereignty and protecting their populations.
