Burkina Faso: When the Presidential Orchestra showcases national culture at the prestigious Military Festival in Moscow

On the occasion of the 17th edition of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower,” organized in Moscow by the Russian Federation, Burkina Faso is being honored with the exceptional participation of the Presidential Orchestra of Faso. This prestigious event, which this year commemorates the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, brings together musical ensembles from around the world to celebrate military music and cultural diversity.

Present in Russia to represent the Burkinabe government, the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Mr. Gilbert Pindgwendé OUEDRAOGO, attended a rehearsal of the orchestra on the famous Red Square, accompanied by the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Moscow. This preparation moment was an opportunity to personally encourage the musicians ahead of the grand opening performance.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister OUEDRAOGO highlighted the importance of this international invitation for Burkina Faso: “For this edition of the festival, we made the strategic choice to present the Presidential Orchestra, which is making its very first appearance abroad. It is a great honor, and we are proud to see our culture represented at such a level.”

The musical repertoire, carefully selected for this participation, draws both from Burkina Faso’s traditional cultural heritage and contemporary musical influences. This blend of authenticity and modernity, combining traditional instruments with modern equipment, aims to deliver an original performance representative of the country’s cultural identity.

Under the direction of Commander Aimé Césaire OUEDRAOGO, the orchestra will present a show combining festive music, choreographies inspired by local dances, and military formations. This artistic carousel seeks to captivate the international audience and showcase Burkinabe talent.
