Burkina Faso: The Burkina-Canada Chamber of Commerce, a lever for economic sovereignty and strategic cooperation

On September 13, 2025, in Ottawa, a historic milestone was set in strengthening economic relations between Burkina Faso and Canada with the official launch of the Burkina-Canada Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-BC). More than a mere ceremonial event, this marks the beginning of a new era where the diaspora becomes a strategic lever for economic renewal and the sovereignty of Faso.

The creation of the CCI-BC comes at a decisive moment, as the country firmly commits to an agenda of economic recovery. By uniting Burkinabe entrepreneurial forces in Canada and attracting investments in agriculture, renewable energy, and local industries, the chamber positions itself as a catalyst for high-value projects. Burkina Faso’s potential—particularly in solar power, arable land, and natural resources—can now open up to balanced partnerships, led by Burkinabee for the benefit of Burkinabe.

With a clear commitment: to secure, regulate, and channel investment flows in the national interest. For producers, SMEs, and artisans, this means access to new markets, expertise, and opportunities that once seemed out of reach.

This initiative embodies the spirit of the new Burkina Faso—sovereign, standing tall, master of its economic choices, and freed from neocolonial dynamics. By valuing its diaspora and framing international relations on a win-win basis, Burkina breaks with dependency and builds alliances rooted in mutual respect, concrete utility, and Pan-African pride.

It is proof that with our own strengths, we can chart a new path—one where Burkinabe entrepreneurs abroad become builders of the economy, relays of sovereignty, and ambassadors of collective resilience.

The path of renewal requires the contribution of all the nation’s vital forces. This new commercial body must inspire youth, stimulate local entrepreneurs, and awaken the spirit of popular initiative. Every investment project must be seen as a building block in constructing a free, prosperous, and united Burkina Faso.
