Lionel Messi extends his journey with Inter Miami

With his contract set to expire in December 2025, Lionel Messi has put an end to speculation about his future. The 38-year-old Argentine forward, winner of eight Ballon d’Or awards and widely regarded as the greatest player of all time, is expected to continue his adventure with Inter Miami.

Since joining Major League Soccer, Messi has been nothing short of spectacular: 20 goals and 9 assists in just 21 league matches. His performances have been vital to the Florida-based club, currently fighting for a playoff spot. Beyond the pitch, the 2022 World Cup champion remains a marketing powerhouse for the franchise owned by Jorge Mas and David Beckham.

In recent weeks, rumors of a return to Argentina, a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, or even retirement had spread across the media. But according to ESPN Argentina, Messi and Inter Miami are close to finalizing a new two-year deal. The star, who is fully enjoying life in Florida, has always made Miami his priority.

Looking ahead, Messi still has one major goal in sight: the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Likely his last major international tournament. The question remains—will Inter Miami be the final club of his career, or could Messi be tempted by one last challenge in 2027?
