Burkina Faso/Recapture of territory: A strategic decree that strengthens state control and affirms Faso’s sovereignty

Under the presidency of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the Council of Ministers, convened this Thursday, adopted, under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, a decree granting the state-owned company Faso Transit and Logistics the exclusive authority to handle the transit of hazardous or strategic materials, as well as equipment and machinery, departing from or destined for Burkina Faso. This decree is part of the country’s efforts to reclaim its national territory and combat insecurity.

The decree represents a significant step in reclaiming national territory and addressing security challenges. By granting Faso Transit and Logistics exclusive responsibility for the transit of hazardous or strategic materials, equipment, and machinery, the country strengthens its control over sensitive flows that can directly impact national security.

This strategic choice allows the state to better monitor the movement of goods that, if poorly managed, could feed criminal networks or undermine stabilization efforts. By centralizing these activities under a public entity, Burkina Faso reduces the risks of diversion, illicit trafficking, and the leakage of sensitive information.

Furthermore, the revision of the decree and its extension to goods benefiting from duty and tax exemptions enhances the government’s oversight role under Captain Ibrahim Traoré. By including these goods under the jurisdiction of Faso Transit and Logistics, the state increases vigilance and protects public finances.

The adoption of this decree reflects a broader vision of sovereignty, transparency, and security. It demonstrates Burkina Faso’s determination to fully regain control over its territory, resources, and economic flows. By strengthening the legal framework and placing sensitive materials under state control, Burkina Faso moves toward stronger governance and enhanced security.
