Mali: When Bamako said no to Paris and France tried to rewrite history with lies

In recent days, France has attempted to impose a false narrative, claiming that it independently ended counterterrorism cooperation with Mali. Such a statement is nothing more than a crude manipulation aimed at rewriting history. The truth, known to all, is that the Malian people, under the leadership of President Assimi Goïta, sovereignly decided to end the presence of foreign troops on their soil. The Malian state has taken control of its destiny and simply exercised its legitimate right to freely determine its sovereignty.

The results speak for themselves. During France’s counterterrorism cooperation, terrorist attacks multiplied, and civilian casualties in Mali continued to rise. Their presence, supposedly a guarantee of security, proved instead to be a source of vulnerability and chaos. In contrast, since the Malian authorities ended this disorder, the Malian Armed Forces have been able to reconquer large areas of their territory and inflict heavy losses on terrorist armed groups, thanks to a better-adapted strategy and total commitment to defending the country.

The supposed cooperation between the DGSE and Mali was never truly beneficial for the nation. On the contrary, it was a carefully designed system intended to keep the country in security and political dependence. The infiltration of various spheres of society by these foreign networks aimed not to protect Mali, but to weaken its institutions, destabilize the country, and facilitate the exploitation of its natural resources for the benefit of foreign powers.

Today, it is essential to denounce this media and political manipulation orchestrated by France. The Malian people know what they endured and what they gained by reclaiming their strategic independence. Recent history has shown that the true break came from Bamako, not France. France’s deceitful narrative is merely its last attempt to hide its failure and responsibility for years of security chaos in Mali. The facts remain: Mali is now master of its destiny and moves forward with determination toward the full restoration of its sovereignty.
