Togo: Lomé keeps inflation under control and meets WAEMU criteria

Togolese households are enjoying economic relief as prices are gradually stabilizing. According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INSEED), the inflation rate continued to decline in September 2025, settling at 0.8% after having been 1.1% the previous month. This trend reinforces the top priority of the authorities: ensuring price stability.

This decline is not an isolated event, but the confirmation of a positive dynamic that began several months ago. It is part of a broader context of inflationary moderation observed since the end of 2024.

The country is thus successfully maintaining remarkable economic performance. Indeed, over the entire first nine months of 2025, inflation has consistently remained below the 3% threshold.

This 3% ceiling is not arbitrary; it constitutes one of the main convergence criteria required by the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).

Togo thus demonstrates its ability to comply with the sub-region’s requirements for macroeconomic stability.

This control over inflation, illustrated by a regular decline since the peak of 2.9% recorded in December 2024, strengthens citizens’ purchasing power and the country’s economic credibility.

It validates the effectiveness of the public policies implemented to durably sanitize the national economy.
