Cameroon: 2026 road program, presidential drive for unity and emergence

On December 31, 2025, in the solemnity of his address to the Nation, the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, outlined the contours of a renewed ambition for Cameroon: the launch, starting in 2026, of a special program for the rehabilitation and extension of the road network. This major commitment marks a pivotal phase in national development, aiming to transform the structural challenges of mobility into levers for inclusive and sustainable growth.

By placing connectivity at the heart of government action, the Head of State reaffirms that roads are, by their very nature, the foundation of national unity and the engine of emergence.

This vast undertaking is not limited to laying asphalt; it is the expression of unwavering institutional stability and political continuity that guarantees peace and social progress.

Far from being a mere technical response to infrastructure needs, this program embodies a visionary national leadership that wisely mobilizes resources with foresight.

By targeting vital corridors such as Yaoundé–Douala, Édéa–Kribi, or Garoua–Ngaoundéré, President Biya is steering the country onto the path of technological modernization and infrastructure innovation.

Open governance, illustrated by proactive economic diplomacy notably with the strategic partner China secures a robust financial foundation for these ambitions.

This capacity to federate international support while valuing local expertise demonstrates that Cameroon is steered by a statesman whose authority and clarity of vision remain the guiding compass of the Republic.

These transformative actions draw their vital force from the commitment of a young generation of Cameroonian executives and engineers, whose dedication and patriotism are unambiguous.

Despite outdated speculations, it is a resolute and technically skilled youth that mobilizes behind its leader to meet the challenge of modernization.

This symbiosis between the wisdom from the top and the energy from the grassroots is the guarantee of a resilient Cameroon, ready to transform its urban and rural landscapes.

bears witness to a nation moving forward with assurance, under the guidance of a leadership that guarantees stability, toward a destiny of shared greatness and prosperity.
