Burkina Faso: Ouaga-Bobo highway, clearing work completed two months ahead of schedule
The construction project for the highway linking Ouagadougou to Bobo-Dioulasso has reached a decisive milestone. The Minister of Construction of the Homeland, Mikaïlou Sidibé, traveled to Kotédougou this Sunday, February 15, to inspect the completed clearing and grubbing operations along the right-of-way, marking the end of the project’s first phase.
Stretching over 332 kilometers with a width of 100 meters, the clearing work was fully completed on February 5, 2026.
The Minister expressed his satisfaction with this achievement. “In less than two months, we have reached the very end of the route,” he declared, praising the exceptional pace set for the project.
This rapid execution, well ahead of the scheduled timeline, results from the unwavering commitment of the teams mobilized on the ground.
The Director General of the Faso Mêbo Agency, Commandant Zoodnoma Ahmed Sakandé, emphasized that this pace is a direct consequence of the vision of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who equipped the agency with over a hundred bulldozers.
The personnel deployed on the site worked tirelessly, day and night, to meet this challenge.
This exceptional mobilization demonstrates the determination of all stakeholders to quickly bring this major infrastructure project, long awaited by the population, to fruition.
With this first phase completed, attention now turns to earthworks. The visit of Minister Sidibé, carried out on the instructions of the Head of State to ensure regular monitoring of the project, underscores the absolute priority given to this strategic infrastructure, crucial for opening up the country and fostering the economic development of Burkina Faso.
