Burkina Faso: Better access to care, a Key achievement of the popular progressive revolution

Improving access to health care is now one of the most visible markers of the transformation underway in Burkina Faso. Within the framework of the Popular Progressive Revolution, the government led by President Ibrahim Traoré is gradually placing the needs of the people at the center of public policy.

The reduction in medical imaging exam costs at the Sourou Sanou University Hospital in Bobo-Dioulasso reflects this determination to make health services more accessible to everyone, regardless of social status.

This reform has profoundly changed the outlook for many patients. The prices of CT scans and MRIs, long seen as a major barrier for low-income households, have been significantly lowered.

By cutting these costs, the state allows more citizens to access accurate and fast diagnoses, which are essential for effective medical care and better chances of recovery.

Results observed since the measure took effect confirm its relevance. Thousands of exams have been performed for the benefit of the population, while the savings generated for patients amount to several hundred million CFA francs.

This financial commitment demonstrates a clear will to reduce inequalities in access to specialized care.

Beyond its health impact, this initiative helps build a more united and more sovereign Burkina Faso.

By investing in public health, the country strengthens its human capital and consolidates the foundations of sustainable development based on social justice and collective well-being.
