Togo launches new digital tool to boost trade and business climate

In a significant move to enhance the business environment, the Togolese government, under the directive of President Faure Gnassingbé, has introduced the Trade Obstacle Alert Mechanism (TOAM).

Launched on February 19 in Lomé by the Togo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-Togo), this innovative digital platform enables businesses to report challenges in their trade operations and receive prompt solutions.

Developed with support from the International Trade Centre (ITC) and GIZ Togo, and overseen by the Ministry of Commerce, the TOAM aims to streamline trade processes by facilitating direct communication between businesses and authorities.

The platform addresses barriers to import and export activities, fostering smoother trade flows and boosting the competitiveness of Togolese enterprises.

Over time, the TOAM is expected to strengthen collaboration between the private sector and government, while enhancing transparency and efficiency in trade policies.

This initiative underscores Togo’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and driving sustainable economic growth.

By empowering businesses to overcome trade hurdles, the TOAM represents a pivotal step in positioning Togo as a hub for commerce and investment in the region.
