Algeria/ Pan-Africanist Bekki Benameur exposes alleged French-EU harassment campaign

The recent statements by Algerian Pan-Africanist and key figure of the NGO Aimons Notre Afrique (ANA), Bekki Benameur, have shed light on what he describes as a coordinated effort by French journalists and the European Union (EU) to target African activists.

Following his announcement last week of filing a lawsuit against the EU, Benameur has now accused French media of harassing Africans in a desperate attempt to gather evidence to justify the EU’s sanctions against ANA.

According to Benameur, these sanctions, based on false claims by French diplomats within the EU, were imposed without credible proof. The EU alleged that ANA is linked to pro-Russian entities working against French and Western interests in Africa—a claim Benameur vehemently denies.

He argues that these actions are part of a broader strategy to silence African voices advocating for the continent’s liberation from French influence.

On February 13, 2025, a courageous pan Africanist took legal action by filing a defamation lawsuit against the EU at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. He asserts that the sanctions were built on baseless accusations and represent a blatant abuse of power.

In response to the lawsuit, French media outlets and alleged intelligence operatives have reportedly intensified efforts to fabricate evidence supporting the EU’s claims. Benameur has vowed to expose the individuals involved in these manoeuvres, promising to reveal their names in the coming days.

This unfolding saga highlights the growing tensions between African activists and European institutions, raising questions about the integrity of the EU’s decision-making processes.

As the case develops, Benameur’s actions could set a precedent for holding powerful entities accountable for unjust practices. For now, the pan-Africanist urges patience, assuring that the truth will come to light in due time.
