Burkina Faso / Days of patriotic commitment: A call for order and discipline for a renewed patriotic commitment

The first phase of the second edition of the Patriotism and Citizen Participation Days (JEPPC) began on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, with a flag-raising ceremony at the Administrative Hotel in the Center region. This event, which will run until April 9, 2025, is held under the evocative theme: “For Order and Discipline: I Commit”.

On this occasion, the Minister of Communication, Gilbert Ouédraogo, conveyed the message from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. He reminded everyone that the revolution is not merely a political change, but also a mindset based on rigor, discipline, and respect for the established rules for national sovereignty.

However, he lamented that some citizens have not yet embraced this dynamic, choosing instead to bypass rules and neglect principles of good conduct. He denounced recurring behaviors such as violating traffic laws, lack of punctuality at work, disobedience to hierarchical instructions, and fraud. Paradoxically, these same individuals demand impeccable public services and exemplary leadership.

In response to this reality, the JEPPC is an opportunity for reflection and self-assessment. The minister urged every Burkinabè to question their commitment to order and discipline, emphasizing that these values are crucial to building a strong and autonomous nation. “True development can only be built on collective awareness and a profound change in mentality”, he stressed.

He urged all citizens to adopt a responsible attitude in their professional and social environments. He also reminded everyone that public property belongs to the people and must be preserved to ensure its sustainability. A rigorous and conscientious management of national resources is therefore necessary.

He praised the courage and selflessness of the combat forces engaged in securing the country’s territory. Their success on the ground perfectly illustrates the power of order and discipline, which are fundamental values of the most effective armies. By adopting these principles, Burkina Faso will be able to overcome the challenges of its sovereignty and sustainable development.
