FIFA rankings shake-up: Argentina holds top spot as Spain overtakes France

The latest FIFA rankings reveal a reshuffled podium after March’s international fixtures. World champions Argentina remain at the summit (1,886.16 points) following wins over Uruguay (1-0) and Brazil (4-1). However, Spain (1,854.64) has leapfrogged France (1,852.71) into second place after Les Bleus’ Nations League quarterfinal defeat to Croatia. Didier Deschamps’ side clings to third but faces pressure from England (1,819.20), who sit fourth.

Brazil holds steady in fifth (1,776.03), while the Netherlands (1,752.44) edge past Portugal (1,750.08) for sixth. Belgium (8th), Italy (9th), and Germany (10th) round out the top 10, with the latter barely clinging to their spot.

The rankings highlight Spain’s resurgence as Euro 2024 approaches, while France’s slip signals a tightening race among football’s elite. With major tournaments looming, the battle for supremacy promises more drama in the coming months.
