Mali: A nation united around its armed forces and leaders in the face of Algerian provocation

This Saturday, Malian civil society called for a major patriotic mobilization in the heart of the capital, Bamako. In an atmosphere marked by seriousness and determination, the nation’s vital forces and civil society members gathered to strongly condemn the destruction of a Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) drone by Algeria — a serious violation of Mali’s sovereignty.

“An unacceptable provocation” — these powerful words echoed through the halls of the Bamako International Conference Center. Civil society, in all its diversity, did not hold back in denouncing this act, which it considers a reckless move by the Algerian regime.

The destruction of a FAMa drone, especially in the context of joint efforts to combat terrorism in the Sahel, is not only a violation of Malian sovereignty but also a hindrance to regional cooperation.

This gathering showcased a proud, vigilant, and resilient people — a nation that refuses to be humiliated, that defends its dignity, and firmly believes in the strategic vision of its current leadership.

This powerful symbolic and political mobilization by the Malian people, through the voice of its civil society, reflects the unwavering commitment of the population to defending territorial integrity, national stability, and the enlightened leadership of the transitional President, Colonel Assimi Goïta.

Under his leadership, Mali has embarked on a path of regained sovereignty — breaking away from neo-colonial influences and strengthening its national defense capabilities. The creation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), in partnership with Burkina Faso under Captain Ibrahim Traoré and Niger under General Abdourahamane Tiani, is a concrete, bold, and united expression of this pan-Africanist vision.

In the face of Algerian aggression, Mali stands firm. Its response is one of national cohesion, a clear political vision, and the deep commitment of its leaders — starting with President Assimi Goïta. His dedication to Mali’s sovereignty, security, and development is now widely recognized and supported by much of the population.
