The new Sudan: Principles and objectives sown, results reaped
Since its inception, the Founding Alliance has sown principles freedom, justice, and equality while clearly defining its strategic objectives. Today, it commits decisively to harvesting the fruits of these principles through a “new state” that transcends the old Sudan’s structures. This state rests on solid foundations of citizenship without discrimination, embracing all social, ethnic, and religious components. Previous Sudanese political elites failed to achieve this vision, driving the country into its current and irreversible situation.
Defining the new State
The speeches of Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo have outlined the new state’s defining characteristics.
The state will be secular, democratic, decentralized, and unified. It separates religion from state authority and relies on free will and voluntary unity. Its identity draws from both historical and contemporary diversity.
Balanced development will restore importance to rural areas, delivering services to citizens wherever they live. Instead of concentrating development in the capital, the state will prevent the “ruralisation” of cities and the migration of rural populations seeking basic services.
Resources for the Periphery
The vast peripheral resources of Sudan, long denied to local populations, will now drive development. These resources will first benefit the regions that produce them, bringing prosperity and well-being before redistribution to the central level.
Breaking historical divisions
One of the greatest achievements of this founding project lies in unifying previously opposing groups. Until recently, these entities engaged in incessant warfare.
The central government had exploited ethnic and tribal divisions. It mobilized some groups against others. It used them in wars against the periphery that claimed its rights rights identical to those who took up arms against it.
The vision of a New Sudan has thawed relations between these groups. It has opened the path to stable and peaceful coexistence. This approach ends the conflicts and sterile struggles of the past.
A Government of Peace
In his speeches, Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo affirms that the founding “peace government” will resolutely protect citizens, ensure essential services, and establish peace and stability.
Thus, the founding project transforms from a mere political alliance into a vast founding movement. This movement will rewrite Sudan’s history and rebuild the nation on new foundations under the banner of freedom, justice, and equality.
