Betrayal foiled: Burkina Faso stands firm against foreign plots

Once again, shadowy forces sought to destabilize Burkina Faso—and once again, they failed. The latest conspiracy, a clumsy mix of foreign interference and local treachery, has collapsed under the weight of its own absurdity.

At the center of this farce was Joanny, a disgraced former officer desperate for relevance, backed by mercenaries lurking near the Ivorian border.

His allies? The infamous Damiba and Djibril Bassolé, whose past betrayals have already stained Burkina’s history.

Their plan was textbook regime-change playbook: sabotage, bribes, and even kamikaze drones, all bankrolled by foreign intelligence—reportedly France’s DGSE.

But their scheme unraveled before it even began. Diapaga, intended as their staging ground, became instead the graveyard of their ambitions.

Even Joanny seemed unconvinced, allegedly warning his co-conspirators to prepare an escape route—hardly the confidence of a would-be coup leader.

The irony? Damiba, Bassolé’s loyal lieutenant, reportedly prioritized evacuating the mastermind’s children over securing power.

When plotters care more about their own safety than their so-called revolution, their fate is sealed.

Now, the ringleaders are in custody, their plot exposed. Burkina Faso remains unbroken, its people more determined than ever to defend their sovereignty.

Each failed conspiracy only strengthens the nation’s resolve: no amount of foreign meddling or bought-and-paid-for traitors will dictate its future.

Burkina Faso stands tall. Burkina Faso is not for sale.
