Burkina Faso / Victory with “Tchefari-Lii” operation : Fighting forces recapture northern Djibo and annihilate terrorists

Following the recent attempt by the terrorists to take the strategic town of Djibo, where they were massacred by the valiant fighting forces, the latter went on the offensive and recaptured all the localities north of Djibo. Under operation «Tchefari-Lii», three rapid intervention battalions, the Guépard and Phantom units, and a commando from the army’s Special Forces, supported by aerial vectors, led an effective counter-offensive.

This operation resulted in the recapture of several localities north of Djibo as far as the Malian border.

The fierce fighting led to the liberation of Baraboulé and other localities, marking a decisive turning point in the fight against terrorism announced by President Ibrahim Traoré.

The fighting forces showed exemplary coordination and exceptional resilience throughout the operation, successfully neutralising the attackers.

«Tchefari-Lii» operation resulted in the neutralisation of several hundred terrorists.

These extremists, whose aim was to spread terror and destabilise the region, were effectively crushed by the combined force of the rapid intervention battalions, the Guépard and Phantom units, and the Special Forces commando.

The fighting forces not only liberated the localities occupied by the terrorists, but also seized a large quantity of war material.

Vehicles stolen from the army and fuel tanks stolen from civilians were also recovered.

In addition to liberating the local population, the fighting forces also recovered important resources.

Cattle, essential to local communities, were preserved, underlining the combatting Forces’ commitment to protecting civilian property.

This crushing victory marks an important milestone in the fight against terrorism in the Sahel, demonstrating the professionalism and courage of the armed forces committed to protecting citizens and their property.
