Mike Tyson’s comeback ends in defeat against Jake Paul

The much-anticipated return of boxing icon Mike Tyson ended in disappointment on Friday night in Arlington, Texas. The 58-year-old legend faced 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium but lost via unanimous decision after an uninspired eight-round bout.

Tyson, fighting professionally for the first time since 2005, managed to land an early punch that briefly rattled Paul.

However, the age gap quickly became evident as the former heavyweight champion struggled with fatigue and seemed more focused on avoiding hits than delivering them.

Paul, known for his controversial rise in boxing, controlled the match with calculated strikes and avoided going all out against his aging opponent.

The contest, shortened to two-minute rounds instead of the usual three, ended with Tyson lowering his guard in the final moments.

Fans packed the 72,000-seat venue and chanted Tyson’s name throughout the night, offering him a warm reception even in defeat.

Despite the loss, Tyson expressed gratitude, stating, “I’m happy. I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself.” He hinted at more fights to come and left the ring with an estimated $20 million payout.

Jake Paul, securing his 11th win in 12 professional bouts, praised Tyson as “the greatest in history.”

The night also saw Katie Taylor defend her unified super-lightweight title, defeating Amanda Serrano in a rematch of their 2022 showdown.
