Mali: The National Charter for Peace, a decisive turning point for the dignity, honor and reconstruction of the country

On July 20, 2025, in a solemn and hopeful setting, the opening ceremony of the feedback workshop on the National Charter for Peace and Reconciliation took place. This pivotal moment marks a decisive step forward in the reconstruction process led by the Malian authorities under the leadership of the Transitional President, General Assimi Goïta.

The National Charter, the result of many months of reflection and collaborative effort, embodies the Head of State’s commitment to rebuilding the foundations of Mali based on endogenous values deeply rooted in the country’s history, culture, and the aspirations of its people. Through this initiative, General Goïta positions himself as the guarantor of a sustainable peace process grounded in social cohesion, security, and national unity. This Charter is more than a document—it is the foundation of a reconciled Mali, one that is firmly oriented toward the future.

Guided by President Goïta, the drafting of this Charter represents a profound transformation of the nation. By emphasizing the integration of Mali’s cultural and social values, this historically significant project proposes a homegrown approach to peacebuilding, placing national unity, justice, and social cohesion at the center of Mali’s political and economic development.

The benefits of this Charter are already apparent, with strong national engagement around reconciliation and sustainable development. With clear reforms and a bold vision, Mali is preparing for a bright future, shaped by inclusive and sustained growth.
