Togo: Authorities begin renovation of 23 schools for a safer, more inclusive start to the 2025-2026 school year
In preparation for the upcoming school year, the Togolese government has launched an ambitious program to renovate 23 schools across the country. This initiative aims to provide safer, more modern, and inclusive learning environments for students and teachers starting from the 2025–2026 academic year.
With the rapid growth of the student population, the authorities deemed it urgent to upgrade the existing educational infrastructure. Many schools, often old or poorly maintained, no longer met safety standards or modern learning needs. This project will improve not only the buildings but also the quality of teaching equipment.
The program also places a strong focus on the well-being of teachers, by including better-designed workspaces suited to their needs. Through this, the government hopes to boost the efficiency of the education system by giving teachers the right tools to carry out their mission effectively.
Another key priority of this initiative is regional equity. The authorities clearly intend to reduce disparities and ensure that every child, no matter where they live, has equal opportunities for success.
