Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim Traoré wants to equip Ouagadougou with a state-of-the-art electron microscope

In his first official address of 2026, the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, announced a major acquisition for the national scientific community: a state-of-the-art scanning electron microscope. This technological advancement will position the country at the forefront of research capabilities in West Africa.

According to available information, this cutting-edge equipment operates on the principle of electron-matter interactions to produce highly detailed surface images.

It significantly outperforms traditional optical microscopes, which are limited by the wavelength of visible light and the quality of optical lenses.
