Niger: An Army Serving the Nation, 65 Years of Dedication and Sacrifice by the FAN

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Nigerien Armed Forces (FAN), the entire Nation came together to pay tribute to the unwavering commitment of its soldiers.Held under the powerful theme “Tribute to Our Martyrs and War Wounded,” this commemoration is a solemn acknowledgment of those who, every day, defend Niger at the risk of their lives.

Today more than ever, as the country faces terrorist threats and security challenges, the FAN embody resilience, courage, and love for the homeland. On the harshest fronts, in the most remote areas, these men and women in uniform fight to preserve peace, protect the population, and safeguard the territorial integrity of the nation.

The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, General Abdourahamane Tiani, honored soldiers who distinguished themselves through acts of bravery by awarding them the “Tarha-n Akal” medal—a symbol of patriotism. This powerful gesture is a reminder that behind every uniform lies a story of sacrifice, loyalty, and devotion.

The memory of the martyrs who fell on the battlefield was honored with deep emotion and respect. Their legacy lives on through their comrades-in-arms who continue the mission with determination. Their names echo in every parade step, every mission carried out, every prayer for peace.

On this day of celebration, Niger pays homage to its Armed Forces: an institution at the heart of the Republic, a pillar of national security, and above all, a family of silent heroes whose courage deserves to be honored every single day.
