Burkina Faso / Faso Mêbo 2026: When the 3rd military region instils discipline and national pride in its young people

The 3rd Military region officially launched the 2026 edition of the Faso Mêbo holiday camp on Monday, 10 August 2026.

The opening ceremony took place in the capital in the presence of Lieutenant-Colonel Armand Michel Ouédraogo, Commander of this defence zone and regional patron of the event, alongside the Director-General of the Faso Mêbo Agency, Commandant Zoodnoma Ahmed Sakandé.

Nearly 1,500 young campers gathered for this ten-day immersion programme centred on transmission and civic engagement. Carrying the slogan “I learn and I participate in building my Nation. The Fatherland or Death, We Shall Prevail!, the initiative aims to provide schoolchildren with a learning environment focused on discipline, civic duty, and attachment to the homeland.

Upon completion of the camp, participants will be encouraged to become ambassadors of these fundamental values within their own communities.

Taking the floor before the assembly, Lieutenant-Colonel Ouédraogo delivered a powerful message: nation-building cannot wait until adulthood.

In his view, every Burkinabe, regardless of age, bears a share of responsibility in the country’s progress and must place their skills at the service of the collective interest.

He stressed the need to cultivate an awakened youth, fully aware of the challenges facing the nation and resolutely oriented toward action.

Commandant Sakandé, for his part, highlighted what makes this 2026 cohort unique.

He announced that the campers would have the privilege of discovering, through narratives crafted by African voices, the great chapters of Burkina Faso’s history and that of the continent. “They will see that they are the descendants of great men and that they should be proud of their identity,” he declared, emphasising the importance of strengthening self-confidence and historical consciousness among the younger generation.

Launched simultaneously across all six military regions of the national territory, the Faso Mêbo 2026 Holiday Camp is fully aligned with the momentum of the Popular Progressive Revolution.

By combining instruction, moral training, and the celebration of African heritage, this gathering aims to shape enlightened citizens, ready to contribute decisively to the future of Burkina Faso.
