His Excellency, General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of the Republic of Niger, warmly welcomed his counterpart and brother, His Excellency, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, President of the Republic of Chad, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The official ceremony took place at the Presidential Pavilion of Niamey’s Diori Hamani International Airport.

This 48-hour official visit by the Chadian Head of State falls within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Niger and Chad—two countries bound by a shared history and common challenges, particularly in the areas of security, development, and regional integration.

Upon his arrival, Marshal Déby Itno was received with full ceremonial honors: military salutes, national anthems, delegation presentations, and cultural performances in the colors of the Sahel. These symbolic gestures reflect the deep fraternity between the two peoples and underscore the strategic importance of this visit.

The two Heads of State then withdrew to the presidential lounge for an initial discussion in the presence of their close aides. Their talks focused on matters of mutual interest, including the security situation in the Sahel, bilateral cooperation, and regional economic projects.
