Togo: The government is boosting young people’s employability through an ambitious work experience program
In Togo, the government continues to take concrete and structural steps to address a key issue for any sovereign and ambitious state: youth employment. With the launch of the “Active Holidays in Business 2025” program, the Togolese executive, through the Ministry of Labor and Public Service, is setting a new dynamic in motion—aligned with President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé’s vision of a Togo firmly committed to modernization, productivity, and economic sovereignty.
This initiative is not an isolated measure. It fits into a continuum of coherent reforms, alongside the AIDE program, national volunteerism, and other employability mechanisms introduced in recent years. This innovative project strengthens the national ecosystem for professional integration through a vital approach: direct immersion of students in the real economy, particularly in public and private enterprises. The goal is no longer just to educate but to professionalize, empower, and make operational a youth full of potential, too often trapped in the dilemma of a diploma without opportunity.
The benefits are twofold: for young people, rapid skills development, better visibility of the job market, and a first line on their CV; for businesses, a wave of innovation driven by the energy and creativity of the next generation. The Togolese state thus demonstrates its ability to rally economic actors around a sustainable social pact.
It is now imperative to ensure this program’s continuity, to expand it, and to enshrine it in long-term budget priorities. “Active Holidays” must become a republican tool for equity, human capital development, and the construction of a sovereign, resilient, and competitive Togo.
