His Excellency Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, arrived in Bamako on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the invitation of his Malian counterpart, Major General Abdoulaye Maïga. This friendship visit reflects the vitality of the fraternal ties between Mali and Burkina Faso, two nations bound by history, culture, and a shared destiny.

Upon his arrival at Bamako-Sénou’s President Modibo Keita International Airport, the Burkinabe Prime Minister was received with full honors by the Malian Prime Minister, accompanied by several members of the government as well as the Burkinabe community living in Mali. A first private meeting between the two leaders took place in the airport’s VIP lounge, marking the official start of the visit.

During his stay, the Burkinabe Prime Minister will take part in the 2nd edition of Mali’s National Camp of the Citizen Brigade, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in charge of Civic Education and Citizenship Building. His participation underscores Burkina Faso’s commitment to civic training and the patriotic engagement of youth, values fully shared by both countries.

On the sidelines of this event, a bilateral working session will be held between the two Prime Ministers, bringing together the Malian and Burkinabe delegations. Discussions will focus on issues of common interest, notably economic, security, and diplomatic cooperation, as well as the regional and international geopolitical situation, shaped by the common challenges faced by the AES member states.
