Friendly visit: Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo celebrates Malian youth in Bamako
Bamako, August 20, 2025 – The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, took part this Wednesday in the celebration of the second anniversary of Mali’s Citizens’ Brigade, during a ceremony held at the Bamako International Conference Center.
Created in 2023 under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Citizens’ Brigade works to promote civic-mindedness, solidarity, and community engagement. In just two years, it has multiplied its awareness and civic education initiatives, bringing young people closer to the values of citizenship and patriotism.
As a special guest, the Burkinabè head of government praised the initiative as “a project with a promising future,” describing the Brigade as “a lasting tool for changing the mindset of Malian youth and society”. He conveyed the fraternal greetings of the Burkinabe people and recalled “the common history, courage, and resilience” that unite the two nations.
Malian Prime Minister, Major General Abdoulaye Maïga, thanked his counterpart for his presence, describing it as a strong sign of solidarity and a clear illustration of the AES Confederation leaders’ determination to make youth “a pillar in building a strong and prosperous confederation”.
The ceremony, enhanced by the presence of several ministers, concluded with the solemn oath of the Citizens’ Brigade members, determined to work for a stronger, more united, and sovereign Sahel.
