Cameroon: Towards a government team of technocrats to tackle challenges and meet the expectations of the people

Following the October 2025 presidential election, Cameroon stands at a decisive crossroads. To address the nation’s profound economic, social, and institutional challenges, President Paul Biya must now undertake a significant ministerial reshuffle one that prioritizes competence and results over political allegiance.

The growing demands of the Cameroonian people are clear: they require a high-performing administration that can deliver on economic growth, employment, and social justice.

To meet these aspirations, the formation of a government of technocrats is indispensable.

This means selecting leaders based on proven expertise, strategic vision, and managerial effectiveness, rather than political loyalty alone.

Cameroon must now bet on men and women of action from diverse backgrounds, with proven track records in both public and private sectors.

These individuals must be capable of translating the Head of State’s broad orientations into concrete, measurable, and sustainable public policies. The future government must embody pragmatism, rigor, and accountability.

The challenges are immense: reviving the national economy, modernizing infrastructure, and accelerating decentralization. In an increasingly competitive global landscape, Cameroon cannot afford to lag.

Only a team with a clear vision, proven expertise, and unwavering patriotic commitment can successfully navigate this critical juncture.

The moment has come for President Biya to make this bold move. Appointing a government of capable technocrats would be a powerful signal of renewal and a direct response to a populace yearning for tangible change in public governance.
