Injury setback: PSG’s Kimpembe faces prolonged absence after surgery

Presnel Kimpembe, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender, has had to extend his time away from the pitch following surgery on January 2nd. While his return seemed imminent, Kimpembe, a crucial figure for PSG, underwent a surgical procedure in the hopes of swiftly getting back to the field and rekindling his passion for football.

The 28-year-old player, regarded as a dedicated soldier for PSG due to his grit and exemplary commitment, is undoubtedly missed by the Parisian team.

Having suffered an Achilles tendon injury in March 2023, Kimpembe has been sidelined for nearly 10 months without featuring in a match for PSG.

Despite nearing a comeback at the end of last year, persistent pain prompted another surgical intervention.

Presnel Kimpembe shared a photo from his hospital bed on Instagram with a hopeful message: «On the road to recovery once again… Thank you for your support. The strength to come back stronger».

Recently extended by PSG until 2026, his return to the pitch is anticipated for February or, at the latest, March.

This prolonged absence poses a challenge for coach Luis Enrique, who will have to navigate without Kimpembe’s services for some more time.

Despite the adversity, the defender remains optimistic about making a strong comeback to contribute to his team’s success.
