Burkina Faso launches “Dèmè Sira” national solidarity campaign to strengthen social cohesion

Ouagadougou, November 13, 2025 – Burkina Faso has taken a significant step in promoting social cohesion and community mutual aid with the official launch of “Dèmè Sira” (“The Path of Solidarity”), a national communication and awareness campaign.

Presented by the Minister of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, this initiative represents a collective call for unity, fraternity, and the reconstruction of the nation’s social fabric.

In a context marked by multiple humanitarian, security, and social challenges, “Dèmè Sira” emerges as a strategic response aimed at revitalizing essential Burkinabe values: mutual aid, sharing, collective responsibility, and respect for human dignity.

The campaign underscores that solidarity is not merely a moral principle but an indispensable pillar for overcoming crises and building a more stable future.

The minister emphasized that the campaign will be deployed nationwide through an inclusive approach involving local communities, civil society organizations, media, youth, and women’s groups.

This strategy encourages every citizen to become an agent of solidarity through daily gestures of support and collective initiatives in neighborhoods and villages.

Featuring an innovative communication component with visual messaging, radio spots, digital campaigns, and inspiring testimonials, “Dèmè Sira” aims to reach all social strata and embed solidarity as a natural reflex within the national culture.

The initiative seeks to foster popular momentum around the understanding that social cohesion is a common good to be protected.

This campaign deserves recognition not only for its humanitarian scope but also for its strategic vision. By celebrating collective efforts and reinforcing a sense of belonging, “Dèmè Sira” contributes to building a more resilient Burkina Faso, capable of confronting present and future challenges.

Through this effort, the government reaffirms that solidarity remains one of the greatest strengths of the Burkinabè people;  a force that must now be rekindled and celebrated more than ever.
