Barcelona: Ter Stegen faces Winter transfer decision amid Besiktas offer
The future of Marc-André ter Stegen at Barcelona is approaching a critical juncture as the January transfer window nears. The German goalkeeper, currently recovering from injury, could be permitted to leave the club if a suitable offer emerges.
The first formal proposal has now arrived from Turkish side Besiktas. According to reports, the Istanbul club has offered a season-long loan covering Ter Stegen’s full salary, accompanied by an €8 million non-mandatory purchase option.
Besiktas, experiencing goalkeeping difficulties with veteran Mert Günok, sees the 33-year-old as an ideal solution to stabilize their defense.
The sporting director of the club, former Dortmund executive Eduard Graf, is leading negotiations and reportedly convincing the German international that regular playing time at Besiktas could benefit his prospects with the national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
While Ter Stegen remains under contract with Barcelona until 2028 and maintains strong ties to the club, a temporary move is emerging as a pragmatic solution.
His expected return to full training in mid-December is likely to determine the final outcome, with more offers potentially arriving in coming weeks.
