Burkina Faso: The media smear campaign against EBOMAF – how far will the malice go?
Burkina Faso- For some time now, EBOMAF, a leading Burkinabe company in construction and multiple other sectors, and its Chairman and CEO, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, have been the target of an unfounded media cabal marked by slander and defamation. This malicious campaign, driven by individuals seemingly motivated by hatred or jealousy, is unjustly damaging the reputation of an exemplary enterprise and its leader.
This cabal, which is not based on any verified facts or compelling evidence, appears to have become the favorite pastime of a handful of detractors. Their motivation?
Likely a toxic mix of envy in the face of success, an inability to compete on the grounds of excellence, and perhaps even a deliberate desire to harm a major economic player whose investments have a impact far beyond Burkina Faso.
When fair competition fails, some seem to believe that calumny becomes an acceptable strategy. They are mistaken.
EBOMAF’s track record and its achievements in road, rail, and airport infrastructure across the continent speak for themselves.
This is a group that actively participates in Africa’s economic development, creating thousands of jobs and helping to open up entire regions.
Within Burkina Faso itself, its contribution to the national economy is significant. It is precisely this success, this international stature earned through hard work, that seems unbearable to some.
It is high time to denounce with the utmost rigor this systematic smear campaign. These attacks, far from serving the public interest, harm the country’s credibility as an investment destination and damage the national economy.
What serious investor would serenely consider establishing operations in an environment where success is systematically punished by vilification campaigns?
This article aims to shine a light on these toxic methods. It calls on the authorities, the justice system, and civil society as a whole for a collective awakening.
Freedom of expression, a fundamental value, cannot be an alibi for the unleashing of hatred and the propagation of false information.
It is the duty of everyone to defend the honor of economic actors who, through their work, are concretely building the nation’s future.
Burkina Faso needs its entrepreneurs and its builders. It has no use for the perpetually envious and the sowers of discord. Truth and hard work will always triumph over malice and lies.
Supporting EBOMAF today is to defend the right to succeed and to send a message to its detractors that Burkina Faso is a land that honors work and innovation, not jealousy and defamation.
