African Teams face mixed fortunes at Women’s Handball World Cup
The 2025 IHF Women’s Handball World Cup is underway in Germany and the Netherlands, and the African contenders have experienced a contrasting start.
On Thursday, Angola delivered a commanding performance, securing a decisive 38-20 victory over Kazakhstan in Group H. This strong opening establishes them as a team to watch in the tournament.
However, Senegal faced a tough challenge in their Group B debut, falling 26-17 to the handball powerhouse, Hungary.
The spotlight now turns to the other African representatives this Friday. Tunisia is set for a formidable test as they take on the reigning Olympic champions, France, in Group F. Earlier in the day, Egypt will compete against Austria in Group E, a match that will be a true gauge of their capabilities on the global stage.
The tournament, which began on November 26th, will continue to unfold until the final on December 14th, with these four African nations aiming to make their mark.
