Burkina Faso: Young people, the new army of integrity against corruption

On the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day (IDAC), observed from December 4 to 9, 2025, the Superior State Control and Anti-Corruption Authority (ASCE-LC) is issuing a rallying call. The campaign of this year resolutely places young people at the heart of the fight, centered on the theme of their contribution to eradicating this scourge. It is a strategic wager: to shape the future of Burkina Faso by making its youth the spearhead of a moral rebirth.

The ASCE-LC and its partners aim to rekindle within this generation the value of integrity, presented as a fundamental characteristic of Burkinabe identity.

In a national context marked by profound transformations and the pursuit of integral sovereignty, this initiative goes beyond mere symbolism.

It seeks to embed a culture of transparency and accountability from an early age, transforming university campuses, high schools, and youth associations into incubators of upright citizenship.

The approach is twofold: to educate and to empower. On one hand, it involves mass awareness-raising about the harms of corruption, which undermines development, diverts public resources, and perpetuates inequalities.

On the other, it is crucial to equip young people to transition from outraged spectators to vigilant actors.

This entails training them to identify corrupt practices, understand secure reporting channels, and demand transparency in the management of public and academic affairs.

This mobilization of youth carries essential political significance. It embodies the vision of a renewal where future administrative, entrepreneurial, and political elites will be immunized against corrupt reflexes.

By actively involving young people in this struggle, the state and the ASCE-LC are not merely preparing tomorrow’s leaders; they are building virtuous social pressure and an irrepressible citizen demand for ethical governance.

Thus, IDAC 2025 is intended to be much more than a week of awareness-raising. It is the launch of a profound movement aimed at reactivating the moral compact between the nation and its youth.

The message is clear: the construction of the Burkina Faso of tomorrow, prosperous and sovereign, will not be achieved through weapons or infrastructure alone, but through the unwavering commitment of a generation determined to restore integrity as the backbone of the nation.

The future is being shaped today in the conscience of every young Burkinabe.
