BBC Investigation uncovers widespread abuse and torture allegations against late founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations

The BBC has uncovered evidence of widespread abuse and torture by the late founder of one of the world’s largest Christian evangelical churches, the Synagogue Church of All Nations (Scoan), based in Nigeria.

The investigation spans almost two decades and reveals allegations of atrocities, including rape, forced abortions, physical violence, and torture by Nigeria’s late TB Joshua.

The charismatic televangelist and preacher, who passed away in 2021, had a massive global following.

The BBC’s two-year investigation includes dozens of eyewitness accounts, with victims detailing instances of child abuse, sexual assault, and fake «miracle healings» broadcasted to millions worldwide.

Several British citizens are among those who have come forward with allegations. The Scoan has not responded to the specific allegations but has previously denied unfounded claims.

Despite the serious accusations, Scoan continues to operate under the leadership of TB Joshua’s widow, Evelyn.

The UK Foreign Office stated that it takes all reports of crime against British nationals overseas seriously but did not comment on specific cases mentioned in the investigation.

The BBC’s efforts to contact Scoan regarding the allegations were met with silence.
