Burkina Faso: Patriotic Support Fund, 500 billion CFA francs raised in three years and concrete achievements for national security

Ouagadougou – The Patriotic Support Fund (FSP) of Burkina Faso, established in 2023 as a citizen mobilization mechanism, has enabled significant military acquisitions in the ongoing battle against insecurity of the country, officials announced Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference in Ouagadougou, Economy and Finance Minister Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo revealed that the fund has financed the purchase of three new helicopters.

He praised the Burkinabè people’s “wave of solidarity,” emphasizing how citizen contributions are directly impacting territorial reconquest operations.

According to figures released by the minister, the FSP mobilized nearly 500 billion CFA francs between its creation and the end of 2025.

This amount, Dr. Nacanabo noted, exceeds what the country traditionally received in development aid. “This means we have endogenous capacities that were not being sufficiently exploited,” he stated proudly.

Looking ahead, the ministry projects collections of 200 billion CFA francs in 2026, which would bring total mobilized funds to approximately 700 billion CFA francs.

Early indicators show promise, with 15 billion CFA francs already recorded by February 15, 2026.

This is something very important and unprecedented,” the minister said, calling on citizens to maintain this patriotic momentum.

The FSP represents both financial sovereignty and popular resilience, transforming national solidarity into concrete operational capabilities as helicopters now patrol Burkinabè skies.
