Congo Brazzaville: Authorities temporarily close borders to secure presidential election

With the presidential election in Congo-Brazzaville approaching, the authorities have taken a strong decision to ensure the security of the electoral process. A decree signed at the end of last week announces the temporary closure of land, air, and river borders from March 15, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This measure, taken by the Congolese authorities, aims to ensure a peaceful and secure environment during this major democratic event.

By strictly controlling border traffic on election day, the state intends to prevent any risk of destabilization or interference.

The defense and security forces will be fully mobilized to ensure the smooth running of the vote and protect the population.

Their deployment throughout the country should deter potential troublemakers and reassure voters.

The authorities are keen to reassure the public that this measure is temporary and strictly limited to election day.

It is part of a dynamic of responsibility and national sovereignty, with each state having the right to take the necessary measures to secure its electoral processes.

The stated objective is clear: to enable Congolese citizens to exercise their right to vote in a peaceful and transparent manner.

By securing its borders during the election, Congo is demonstrating its determination to organize credible elections, free from external interference.
