Basketball/ Senegal Lions begin World Cup qualifiers preparation
The Senegal men’s national basketball team kicks off its training camp tonight at the newly renovated Stadium Marius Ndiaye in Dakar, marking the start of preparations for the second window of the 2027 FIBA World Cup African qualifiers.
Head coach Ngagne Desagana Diop will lead the first practice session from 21:00 to 23:00 GMT, with the initial 15 minutes open to the public and media, the Senegalese basketball federation announced.
The Lions face a demanding schedule ahead, taking on Ivory Coast (February 26), Madagascar (February 28), and DR Congo (March 1) during the qualification window.
Diop has summoned 14 players for the training camp, including Brancou Badio, whose inclusion was confirmed after some uncertainty.
Kara Sène and Aziz Bandaogo have also received call-ups for the crucial qualifying campaign.
The team will have just three days of preparation before their opening test against the Ivorian Elephants later this week.
