Burkina Faso / Women’s empowerment: Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s commitment to endogenous development
Under the leadership of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso is increasing initiatives aimed at strengthening the economic empowerment of women. At the heart of this vision lies the promotion of endogenous and sustainable development, based on the valorization of local resources and the active involvement of communities.
Several agricultural perimeters have thus been developed to support women’s productive activities across the country.
These infrastructures are gradually being handed over to beneficiaries in various localities.
At the Wendpanga Cooperative Society in Boulsa, to the women of Gaoua in the Djôrô region, those in Tiakané, and also in the rural commune of Komtoèga in the Nakambé region, women now have structured production spaces at their disposal.

The Nabonswendé Cooperative of Poedogo, as well as the women of Dori, are also benefiting from these developments, while other similar projects are still underway.
Beyond the establishment of these perimeters, the government intends to support women throughout the entire agricultural value chain.
Actions are planned to support not only production but also the processing of local products. This approach aims to strengthen local wealth creation and sustainably improve the living conditions of rural women.
In this dynamic, President Ibrahim Traoré also emphasizes the importance of training young girls. “As I have said, our primary focus will be to channel young girls towards technical education,” he stated, convinced that training and work constitute essential pillars for building sustainable and inclusive development.
